I wish that all the best players would be automatically transferred to my taxi squad. ;D
In the event that the above proposal fails to pass, the only other thing I'd like to discuss is the possibility of veteran players being able to be moved on the taxi squad. I'm not even totally sure how I feel about this idea, but this seems like the place to talk about it.
Ex. I overpaid for Steven Jackson, but I don't know if I want to get rid of him yet. Instead I place him on my taxi squad until I decide or someone wants to take him from me.
Pros: More flexible taxi squad in terms of how it's used and what players become exposed for potential bidding by other teams.
Cons: Keeps players protected that would otherwise become free agents.
Just a thought.

Just a thought. Who is this Just kidding. You are/were saddled with a high priced player, yes. I don't think the taxi squad is the place to put him or a similar player and he isn't under contract technically either. Your options as you may know. 1. Franchise him at $465 for 1 year. (Not gonna happen) 2. Do nothing and you get his $330 cap space back and spend it elsewhere or blind bid a more manageable number on him. I think the "contract extension" and "franchise tag" normally help in protecting players you want to keep. I told the previous owner he shouldn't make Jackson's contract 1 year. It killed his, now your options. Including a trade. I do think it is an odd happening that normally wouldn't play out like this. I am open to suggestions but do think it was a rare occurrence.

I'm for allowing players within their first three years or perhaps two years on the taxi squad. I don't think it should just be limited to rookies.

This season we have to promote everyone on our taxi squad to our roster and assign them contracts or drop them. Is that correct?
Is there any chance that we will be able to change the taxi squad rules and keep them on our taxi squad for 3 years? Will we have a vote on the rule and can it be in effect for 2010?

It's true only rookies can be placed on TS, however they can remain there for the length of their original contract and still not count towards your cap or term. You have three there now so you can still place 2 of your 3 rookie picks there this offseason. When people learn that they seem to like the current TS format. Would you fall into that category. Then of course you must leave them there until week 5 when they might be claimed by another team.

OK. That sounds good. One other question. If you win a RFA that is on another team's taxi squad, can you keep them there?

The only thing I found is 6.2e, which says taxi squad to taxi squad moves are not allowed. It refers to a slightly different situation but I think the intent is the same. So no, that player would need to go to the new teams active roster.
