Now that Phantom Menace has 8 players all of whom are veterans. What happens to the Sedrick Ellis auction?

Nate I have said repeatedly you can auction however many you can afford and have roster space for. And there is plenty of time to make more roster space.

Your fixated on the 8 starters and 4 reserve I guess. Roster limit will be 36 when it's all said and done. If he has 20 or 22 offensive players right now, he has room to acquire 14, 15, or more IDP.
Owners can also cut current players and make more room for more IDP .
I will try and explain it better if you still need.

Honestly I think 36 is too low. It should be 40, but we can't just change it now. We'd need a vote next year. I'd like to see how hard it is to maintain a team with a 36 and 8 TS roster.

Not that it matters but Cameron Jordan Saints is a Rookie. Also I've done my math pretty well which is why I stop bidding on Haloti Ngata. It was about to put me over. You will see even with Ellis I'm just under 290.00
I do have a question? Cameron Jordan was listed as a DT now that he is on my team he is listed as DE. What happened there?

Whomever began the auction was wrong or used a different site where he is listed as other. MFL has him as a DE. That's what he is...for now. MFL updates from time to time player positions. Maybe he will change.

I was not aware that I should be using MFL site. I will keep that in mind going forward.

Yes. They're our league homepage and fantasy engine. So, where it is possible for me to change a player's position, as a commissioner I have no interest going down that road.
MFL is the final word on stats and positions for the RADL. Much like CBS is for my other leagues with them.

I was under the impression we only had 12 spots for IDP as well, but after re-reading the rules section I can see you were just saying 12 overall roster spots with 8 being starter IDP and 4 TS spots, not that we could only draft 12 IDP players. I think since the money and contract years were so specific to just be used for IDP players this year that I made the inference that the roster spots were as well. If Nate asked me about that, that's what I would have told him, so the misunderstanding is probably my fault. Doesn't really change my strategy or anything though, but to good to know that going foward.

Oh, and I think Steve is right about probably needing to expand rosters after this year, especially when IDP players can be reclassified into another position. Hard to plan for that and still make sure you have all your positional spots covered for starters and bye weeks.

One step further Pete. It's 12 active and 4 TS spots. I guess I see where it's confusing and I will try to clarify. If you read it one way, others may too.
So really there is 16 new slots for IDP.
More if you have less than 24 offensive players right now. But owners can't dip into that right away.
Read again the IDP draft guidelines. Two separate entries. 12 new ROSTER spots 4 new TS spots
Maybe I should have said 12 new ACTIVE roster spots but it follows exactly how the offensive players work. Old roster limits are 24 players but certainly teams have more including TS squad.
So new roster limits are 36 and 8 TS spots. The only strange thing, as I have said before, we are keeping offensive and IDP players separate until mid-August. That way EVERYONE is on the same playing field for IDP.
After August 15 teams can adjust however they see fit, following all deadlines and rules, how players, offensive and/or defensive, they choose to carry, pay them, and the amount of terms they hand out.
I believe everything I have sent out has been consistent in the numbers.

All this in the Sedrick Ellis thread...who knew.
I feel that 24 offensive players is a good number, add to that 8 IDP starters, only 4 spots for reserves seems low.
However, there is flexibility with 2 FLEX positions AND team defenses are going away. That would give me three more spots for "SPARE" IDP guys.
So if two of my four linebackers are on byes or have bad match-ups, I can flex in DB or DE's. I want to play a season before I comment further on roster size.

I got you now Steve. I thought (read it) that I got 8 Veterans, and 4 Rookies for my 12 new spots. Those 12 spots COULD ONLY BE GOTTEN IN THIS AUCTION. But that after the auction I could add more if I had room. Now I get it.
