In my two 2010 dynasty leagues, both rookie drafts started on the same day. In my other league, it was an much anticipated event. The start time was 8:00 AM EST, and folks on the west coast actually got up at 5:00 AM PST, so they could partake. It's a slow draft just like this one, with 16 teams and they are currently at pick 2.14.
The RADL draft makes me wonder if everyone even knows there's a draft. I think we are all missing out on some of the fun elements of the draft.
For next year's rookie draft, we should use the MFL Live Draft Room. The timer can still be set for 24 hours. The best thing about the draft room is that you can chat with other folks who are in the room. Yesterday, I had no draft picks at all, but because I was in the live draft room, other owners started privately chatting with me, and I was able to make some deals. Making trades during the rookie draft is a lot of fun. There's back and forth negotiating going on all around a live event.
This live draft room works during a slow draft. It doesn't have to all get done in a day or even a week, but there's a central place for folks to go to online and just have the window open in case something happens. Right now, we need more back and forth communication in our league, so we can increase the FUN factor.
I know this year was complicated by other variables, but I think overall we need more interaction amongst owners. Like if you reject my trade, perhaps tell me you have no interest at all in dealing the pick or send me an e-mail or call me and let's discuss some other possibilities. If you don't give me an idea of what you may want, then I can't come up with a better deal. Just my two cents.

We definitely should use MFL Live Draft room next year, given that it manages everything for you and it does bring a chat feature that we can use to haze each other...it is good timess.

You know Steve will tell u I'm the 1st one to complain when people aren't being active enough, or responding to trade offers with a simple, yes, no, I'm thinking about it, I can't believe u screwed my sister. I know Steve's origional plan was to fill this leauge with people so into fantasy football, that we pee draft picks and bleed trade offers. However finding 12 folks that into fantasyfootball is harder (hehehe I said harder) than one would think.
As a result there are those who belive that life here began out there, far across the universe with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians or the Toltecs or the Myans. Some believe there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive, somewhere beyond the heavens.
Fleeing from the Cylon tyranny, the last battlestar, Galactica leads a rag-tag fugitive fleet on a lonely quest.... a shining planet known as Earth.
There are also sadly people in the league currently who don't recite draft picks in their sleep, and wouldn't push they're wife's birthday dinner up a few days to be around for the draft, but we all saw how hard it was to fill the last few spots so there are those here who perhaps should not b in a dynasty league, but we should do the best with what we have. As Alderan Avengers coach Pete "He's more machine now than man; twisted & evil" Kramer said just the other day.... "You guys worry too much about other people's picks. If they don't pick, a player just might fall into ur lap". Like steve said we isually have to wat till august, so this is like a little foreplay for us. But yes, as with every other league I play in, even the one I run, short of holding a knife to their testicles, there are people who don't respond to trades and offers, no matter how good they are or how good we think they might b.
And as for the MFL draft room, I cat speak neither here nor there on that, I'm sure Steve jad a good reason for picking this current radl proboards, but I would like to add, this loads up a hell of a lot better on my black berry than trying to load a full fleged chat room, it would never happen.
And while I don't know what u all do for a living, but steve and I work in television news, and short of having a baby, I/we've got no shot of getting time off to spend in a chat room during may sweeps.
However starting the draft @ 8am Eastern time I think is a good suggestion. Since the picks had to b in during the afternoon, things do seem to be moving along faster.
For what its worth, those r my thoughts.

True... But one might imagine that anyone who shouldn't b in this league, wouldn't take the time to come post here, or sign up for the message board. If they can't b bothered to respond to trades, or make a pick in a 24 hour peroid, then why on earth would they even read this thread to start with?

It was my post heading. My point was that it felt like this rookie draft was forgotten by half of the league or is being handled like it was a chore more than a fun activity. I think the current format may have something to do with it, so that's why I am recommending we use MFL's live draft room the next time because it provides the opportunity for live interaction. I know some of you don't have much time, but it doesn't really take much time. Folks just pop in the draft room to see what's up, who's been drafted, and the recent chat conversations are posted for all to see. The more interaction we have, I believe the funner the league will be.
I was very excited when the draft started, but a bit frustrated at is snail pace. Now that we are on Day 10, I really don't mind the slow pace, as it gives me something to keep checking and thinking about regarding my next picks.
