Rule in Question: 14.1 c. Regular Season Tie-Breakers
Currently, when a regular season tie-breaker is decided upon, the tie-breaker winner is awarded an additional 3 points to their current score. This additional 3 points is important because the team that scores the most regular season points receives $100 for the league scoring title. Furthermore, total points are one of the possible tie-breakers in determining seeding.
This rule seems unfair because the tie-breaker winner did not actually earn those 3 points. They are being rewarded additional points that their starting roster did not score for tying a team rather than actually winning, thus the rest of the league is also penalized in their race to finish the season with the most points by not getting these free points.
Tie-Breaker Revision: 14.1 c Regular Season Tie-Breakers My rule change proposal is that the tie-breaker winner not be awarded an additional 3 points, instead they should simply get the "W" or victory awarded to them without additional points being added to their score. I checked with MFL support, and they confirmed that this change can be done. Using Standings Adjuster, the commissioner can add (or subtract) W/L/T's to any team without having to add or subtract points from their scores.
Please take this rule change into consideration for the 2012 season.
