These are the 2013 costs for every position tier 2 and tier 3 franchise tags. Tier 1 tags simply add 50% to the specific player's current salary. Tier 2 and 3 bumps are minimum 25% for players making close to or more than the tier numbers. QB: (T-2 $177) (T-3 $212)RB: (T-2 $103) (T-3 $264)
WR: (T-2 $92) (T-3 $210)
TE: (T-2 $22) (T-3 $45)
K: (T-2 $5) (T-3 $10)
DT: (T-2 $7) (T-3 $29)
DE: (T-2 $23) (T-3 $45)
LB: (T-2 $22) (T-3 $47)
DB: (T-2 $3) (T-3 $36)Here is the link explaining the franchise tiers again. docs.google.com/document/d/1tED5PRivahLhbIOzPfrNBGllavOfCIYNINW9A4rUJ_k/editInteresting that some tags went down, some remained nearly the same, while others went up.

So wait, if I franchise a QB who currently makes $300, their new salary is going to be $375, and not $212? What gives?

I'm happy to expand, but what gives is that's the rule from the inception of the multi-tier tag system.
I find it unlikely that a player would agree to play for a 20% plus pay cut. Especially the top echelon of positional players.
