Some highlights from the blind bidding process. Any specifics about how much you lost that 4th DB by can be answered if you ask.
The QB bidding was fairly controlled as there wasn't a tier 1 QB on the market. Closest thing was the $91 winning bid on Sam Bradford. A bid won by $40 over the next 2 highest bids. Bradford had seven bids including the low bid of $17.
Tied with Bradford at seven bids each were Matt Schaub and Joe Flacco. The winning $71 bid was $19 higher than the next best offer for Schaub. Four other bids in the $20 range and a "what the hell?" $2 bid.
Flacco getting a bit more respect with four bids in the 30's and yet the same high bid of $71. Very similar arc with winning bid being $21 better than second place.
Philip Rivers did earn a $70 bid but it was withdrawn when that team signed Joe Flacco. The other bids on Rivers were 10, 16, 21 and 35.
Clearly ranking him the fourth most wanted QB.
Carson Palmer had three courters but only one serious offer from Yoda, who's $30 bid was $20 more than the next.
Bruce Gradkowski and Kirk Cousins both received one bid.
There were four very hot running backs on the open market. Not surprisingly Chris Johnson lead the way with 11 bids. Hmmm? Who was that one team to abstain?
The winning $400 bid was a sliver better that the next bid of $240. Six other bids ranged from $132 to $182. Two other bids just under $90.
Cad Bane won the Frank Gore sweepstakes with a $240 bid, nearly a $100 over the second place bid. Three bids at or under $50. The rest of the bids in the low hundreds.
Ryan Matthews had six bids and the top bid of $127 was a mere $17 better than the next. Bids of $110, 100, and 65 rounded out the serious offers. $17 was offered buy a rather RB heavy squad.
Chris Ivory was where we seemed rather hot or cold. Seven bids, five between $24 and $60. One peace loving bid of $100 and then the winning $188 bid. Squeaker.
Two bids on D Williams with-in 10 or so bucks.
Two bids on Ahmad Bradshaw with-in 10 as well.
Jon Stewart was won by $50.
Players with one bid...Knowshon Moreno and Marcel Reese, both $11.
Calvin Johnson was the belle of the ball, everyone wanted a dance. $248, 240, 241, 232, 250, 237, 211, 261, were the offers that kept Ole Mega, feet firmly planted against the wall sipping punch.
Then Stairway to Heaven came on to the tune of $342. However, before the lady even knew all that glittered was gold, Calvin was dancing on the floor of a limo with Master Yoda. It was glorious.
Or
Glorious it was.
Some good comedy right here.
Anquan Boldin, one bid, $158
Jacoby Jones, one bid $88
Santana Moss, one bid $118
That's $364 of uncontested bidding. Oh my.
Wes Welker thought over 7 bids and choose the $148 over the $127 second place offer.
Pajai won Jeremy Maclin by $56 and Hakeem Nicks by a much slimmer $18. Nicks had four bids over $100.
All the bids for Sidney Rice were with-in $20 of each other and won by $8.
Greg Jennings had lukewarm interest from six teams but the bidding was close. 87, 80, and 77 were the top three bids.
Santonio Holmes was offered two identical $5 two year deals but signed with Ewok when they sent their private plan first.
The rest of the receivers had just one bid and choose them over digging the proverbial ditch.
The hottest commodity in the tight end camp was one Brandon Myers. Four bids ranging from $2 to $30 dollars. The $30 bid was taken of the table when Fred Davis agreed to terms with Alderaan. Davis declined a much smaller offer from Deadwood for $15.
The Pugs outbid Deadwood by $18 for Myers. They outbid themselves by $24 for Cameron Jordan Jordan Cameron Jimmy James Cameron Frye you're my hero.
Surprisingly tepid interest in Antonio Gates. Three bids topping out at $32 for a one year deal. That bid was $15 more than needed to get a deal done.
Nerf Herders offered $67 to tight ends nobody brought in for free agent visits. Including a $51 and lone bid for Delanie Walker, who sprained a wrist rushing to sign it.
David Ausberry's dad said his son received $5 to much after being reminded who David Ausberry was. "Oh yeah, he mows my lawn last year and next." The Elder Ausberry opined.
