Ah, push it - push it good
Ah, push it - push it real good
Ah, push it - push it good
Ah, push it - p-push it real good
So I was thinking (smell the smoke) and we're kinda doing this right now, is there any reason we can't push
3.16 June 8th - 15th: Free Agent Bidding Period #2---- all the way back to July 15th?
Thus pushing everything else back, and hopefully pushing 3.19 Final Cut Announcements----back to August 15th.
Then we drop completely, 3.21 July 21st - 31st: Final Free Agent Bidding Period---- and go straight into Announcing Final Rosters on August 20,
and THEN go into 3.23 - NFL Season Kickoff True Free Agency on August 25th.
I see a few reasons for this, and I'll try to be brief
1. These last few years the rookie draft has gone to a live draft room, everyone has been taking part and the draft has been over with in 2 weeks. So we have all this "dead(wood)" time while not much is going on in the real NFL, and not much going on for us.
(I believe Steve hasn't seen a real rush to get started again, we are supposed to be in the middle of our 2nd FA bidding period, but no complaints so far and I think we're all good)
2. As I just said, there's nothing going on in June in the NFL, and in NY where most of the league lives school is ending in June and many of you in NY have kids ending school starting summer camp, ect. I see no real reason to be "doing stuff in the RADL", not just because very little is happening in the NFL, but because I'm sure many of us have more important things to do in June.
3. Wouldn't it be great to start bidding again on the remaining FA's and rookies in mid to late July when training camps actually start? That way we all have equal chance to see/hear what's going on in the NFL, injuries, arrests, player progress, late retirement, yearly rapes. I know most training camps start around the 20th of July, but we still have to give Steve time to do all this stuff (1st training camp date is July 17th).
4. This also gives most of us all of June and 1/2 of July time with our families, and enjoy our summer. And then when the rest of the world starts really thinking about NFL again, we can join them.
5. Lastly I think it can only improve the league and the revenue if TRUE Free Agency starts in late August for all of us, instead of a 3rd FA bidding period when we could just as easily "start the league".
6. I bet you never thought I'd keep it this short did you?
Please, I'm open to hearing your thoughts and ideas. Except Pete, that guy's a dick.
